Putuonuo Hospital marked its 35th foundation day on Sunday with a special programme held at its hospital premises.
Delivering the keynote address, Kuholi Chishi (Retd. Director, Higher Education) encouraged everyone to endure challenges with consistency. “Trust comes with time,” she said, urging all to be mindful, accountable, and committed to personal growth while striving for excellence.
Consultant Surgical Oncologist, Dr. Keduovinuo Keditsu presented the hospital’s annual highlights and achievement report. She recalled that Putuonuo Nursing Home, established on July 6, 1990, by Dr. Kezevituo Keditsu and Dr. Toshevi Keditsu Sema, has grown into a full-fledged hospital. The new building in Daklane, Kohima was inaugurated on July 6, 2025 by chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, and began full operations in February this year.
Today, Putuonuo Hospital is a 50-bedded facility equipped with an OT complex, modular OT, ICU, HDU, NICU, dialysis unit, IVF lab, chemotherapy ward, 24/7 radiology with 96-slice CT scanner, pharmacy, emergency services with ambulance, and a full in-patient department.
With 130 employees across 37 departments, the hospital reported a monthly Employee Satisfaction Index ranging between 82–93%, showing a strong workplace culture.
It is the first hospital in Nagaland to receive Fire Safety NOC (August 2023), with built-in systems and ongoing training. It is also the state’s first licensed IVF laboratory with an in-house embryologist, and among the few hospitals allowed to use narcotics.
Putuonuo Hospital also took part in the state’s first population-based cancer screening among indigenous tribes in collaboration with Dr K&T Keditsu Foundation Nagaland, Biocon Foundation Bengaluru and Dental Department NHAK, under the Directorate of HFW.
Other initiatives include Nursing Assistant Training under Dr. Neilakuo Kire and Head Nurse Mary Sadivinuo Chasie; the Transformation Lecture Series (TLS) started in May 2024 for education and team building; and MedLern mobile app-based training for staff. The hospital also conducts quality improvement workshops and internship programmes including for physiotherapy trainees.
A certificate of appreciation was awarded to Rev Moa Longchari Cancer Foundation (RMLCF) for its support to cancer survivors through the Free Cancer Clinic Initiative.
Outstanding Achievers Awards were presented to Manju Gurung for her contributions to the Medical Records and Hospital Information Management Department, and to Suryakant Prasad for excellence in the Fertility (IVF) unit.
Head Technician Sanjeevini Lama shared her personal journey at the hospital through the years.
The event was chaired by Dr. Petevihu Dziivichii, with Bible reading by Dr. Kiyekali Chishi. Invocation was led by Chenlen Phom and special music was presented by Kerivinuo Zaphu. Dr. Kezevituo Keditsu, chairman and managing director, delivered the vote of thanks.
