Pongidong Village Students Union (PVSU) and Wokha Town Pongidong Youth Forum (WTPYF) have strongly condemned the alleged attempted rape on one of its bona fide member by Renbi Yanthan at Wokha Town on May 22. In a joint press release, PVSU president Nzanchumo Humtsoe and WTPYF president Roland Humtsoe termed the act as a ‘nasty crime’ that was intolerable and unacceptable in ‘our’ society.
The two unions said such shameful deed deserved harsh punishment. They further appealed to the law enforcing agencies to take stern action against the culprit for the heinous crime. Unions stated that leniency towards offenders would only encouraged the crime to multiply.
Meanwhile, the two unions lauded the Wokha Town police station officer-in-charge and his subordinates for apprehending the offender at the right time.
