In pursuance of the 60 day deadline the PDA government set to repair roads, Minister for Public Works Department Tongpang Ozukum, accompanied by department officials inspected the ongoing road construction sites at secretariat road, at Kohima on Saturday.
The Engineer appraised the Minister on the technical provisions of the repair works that were underway, starting with the main administration highway (the State Secretariat road) the condition of which is already deplorable.
While conducting the inspections, the Minister expressed his satisfaction with the efforts put in by the officials and workers despite the unfavourable monsoon rain and loose soil threats.
Ozukum also inspected the ongoing construction of the retaining wall near Soul Harvest Church at Daklane, Kohima which was carried away by a massive landslide, cutting one of the major life lines of the city. The Minister said all efforts are being made to restore the road at the earliest possible time. In this regard, the Minister appealed to the people once again to bear with the inconveniences.
