PWD observes 25th anniv

Philimi Welfare Dimapur (PWD) observed its silver jubilee at NER Agri Expo site, 4th mile Dimapur with additional director general of police, G. Akheto Sema as guest of honour on Friday.
At the programme, Akheto spoke about the clean election campaign and said it was the responsibility of every individual to contribute towards the success of the campaign, secretary jubilee planning board of PWD, Xuhovi Wotsa said in a statement.
He added that during the time of election, people usually set aside their spirituality and get intensely involved in trying to get something out of the candidates.
He therefore called for strong action plans with punitive clauses so that the clean election campaign becomes a reality.
Akheto also said the Naga people, especially the youth, were living beyond their means thereby contributing to the low economic status of their families. “Else if people can live within their limits nobody would be poor and having a job does not only mean getting into the government sector but there are lots of avenues in the private sector and our youngsters should be ready to explore such areas with employability skills with them,” Akheto added.
He also spoke against the system of proxy teachers and added that though the government was appointing qualified teachers the students were being taught by unqualified ones thereby destroying generations.
Pointing to the logo of PWD which showed a hand lifting another hand, Akheto said it was quite appropriate with their nomenclature, Philimi Welfare Dimapur stating, “A welfare would mean thinking, helping and doing good towards one another in all times good and bad.” He encouraged the gathering to accelerate their life towards progress and development.
Convenor, PWD jubilee planning board, S. Khutolu Wotsa in his closing remarks emphasized on the need to uplift one another and march ahead in unity.
First chairman of PWD, Vikuto Wotsa delivered the welcome address while Rev Thilihe Yeptho released and dedicated the jubilee souvenir. Folk song was presented by Niheto Assumi and friends while Philimi Students’ Union Dimapur presented the opening ceremony act.
