PWD (R&B) clarifies on road improvement works

Nearly two weeks after ACAUT Nagaland questioned the spending of Rs. 19.42 crore for work under “improvement of the road between City Tower and DC Court Junction, Dimapur”, the Public Works Department (Roads & Bridges) on Wednesday sought to “bring out certain clarifications for the information of the general public.”
In a press release, chief engineer (CE) PWD (R&B) stated that the work order for the said work was issued to M/S Khumtsa Awomi during 2013 vide No. CE(R&B)/Road-1/CT-DC/2013-14 dated October 25, 2013. According to CE, the works were completed in all respects within a period of five months. CE stated that payments for the completed works were paid in two instalments — first payment released during April 2015 amounting to Rs.1500.00 lakh and second payment released during August 2016 amounting to Rs.442.48 lakh. CE said the total amount released was Rs.1942.48 lakh.
