DIMAPUR: PWD/Supply Sumi Students’ Union (SSU) organised its first felicitation programme cum career guidance session at E Space Conference Hall, near SBI Rangapahar Branch, Dimapur, under the theme “Navigate. Aspire. Achieve,” on June 20.
The programme was aimed at recognising academic excellence, encouraging achievers, and providing a platform for career awareness, mentorship and guidance to young aspirants in making informed decisions for their future.
Chaired by women co ordinator Liula Huska, with DSSU representative Nito Kiho as secretary, the event commenced with an invocation by prayer convenor Nitoho Chophy, followed by a welcome address from union president Tova Kiba. Advisor Mughato Swu, in his introductory note, highlighted the importance of supportive platforms for students, nurturing talent and guiding young minds towards opportunities aligned with their aspirations.
The programme featured a special number by joint secretary Nikito Kiho, followed by the felicitation ceremony where meritorious students and achievers were honoured for their dedication and accomplishments. The recognition sought to motivate students to continue pursuing excellence and inspire others within the community.
Dr. Khekuto Kiho, assistant director and geologist, Government of Nagaland, graced the event as special guest and keynote speaker. Sharing insights from his professional journey, he encouraged students to remain focused, develop skills, embrace learning opportunities and pursue goals with discipline and determination. Following the felicitation, a career guidance session was conducted by Mahendra’s Coaching Centre, Dimapur, focusing on career planning, emerging opportunities, competitive examinations and professional pathways to help students make informed choices based on their interests and abilities.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by general secretary K. Vinika Achumi, who expressed gratitude to the special guest, dignitaries, participants, parents, students and supporters for their contribution to the success of the event. Benediction was offered by Obed Muru.
