PYO, DYO restrict plying of heavy vehicles on two selected roads

KOHIMA, AUG 20 (NPN): The Pfuchatsumia Youth Organisation and Dapfhütsumia Youth Organisation have jointly directed heavy vehicle owners, drivers and transporters to stop plying on two selected roads with immediate effect.
PYO president Thejanguzo Pienyü and DYO president Ruokuoneitso Kire said the roads covered by the directive are DBS Road from P. Khel to Seikhazu Junction, D. Khel (Rheichalie Road) and Khuya near Medical College to BSF Camp, Keyake Road, P. Khel.
They said the decision was taken following the closure of Phesama road, which had led to a large number of Manipur- and inter-district-bound heavy trucks using the roads.
They said the roads were not suitable for heavy commercial traffic and continued use was causing damage and posing risks to public safety.
All heavy vehicles have been directed to use National Highway 150 as the alternative route.
The organisations said the directive was issued in the interest of public safety, road maintenance and smooth traffic movement, and urged all concerned to comply with the notice.
