PYO regulates alternative road to Kisama; asks NHIDCL to restore road

DIMAPUR, AUG 19 (NPN): Phesama Youth Organisation (PYO) has announced temporary regulations for alternate road leading to Kisama amid the ongoing landslide and disruption of main NH road.
In a public notification, PYO president Ketouneio Zashumo said the alternate road had become a vital lifeline for Southern Angami areas and neighbouring states and urged all authorities, transporters, drivers and the public to strictly follow the regulations to ensure uninterrupted movement and safety.
Students, passengers, emergency vehicles and essential commodities have been accorded priority passage. However, movement of pick-up trucks and small commercial vehicles carrying essential commodities will be permitted only from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Movement outside these hours will be prohibited until further notice. PYO said movement of heavy construction materials through the alternate road had been temporarily restricted to prevent further deterioration of the road. Vehicle loads have also been restricted to around 50% of the normal permissible capacity.
It warned that drunk driving would not be tolerated and said those found driving under the influence of alcohol would face fines and could be barred from using the alternate road.
PYO also appealed to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to expedite restoration of the affected/sinking road, while ensuring proper engineering standards and quality materials for a permanent solution.
A helpline, 8798419713, has also been established to facilitate communication, provide road-status updates and assist the public during emergencies.
PYO urged all stakeholders to cooperate with the authorities and prioritise passenger safety and uninterrupted supply of essential commodities until the main road is restored.
