Quality education best foundation for kids: Pukhayi

Parliamentary Secretary for Soil & Water Conservation, Pukhayi Sumi on Wednesday stressed on the importance of imparting quality education to children at young age as it laid strong foundation for all round development.
Speaking at the inaugural function of Eurokids International School (Center-2) at Valley View Colony near 32 Assam Rifles Camp here, Pukhayi said sending kids to pre-school would prepare them for formal education.
Pointing out that pre-schools or Montessori schools were essential in moulding a child, the parliamentary secretary said such schools have their own method, art and speciality to teach little children in the way they could learn better.
Lauding the management of the school and principal for taking the initiative to set up a pre-school in the locality, Pukhayi expressed the hope that the school would help in moulding up children for the welfare of the community and the State.
Citing the example of American, he said USA has large number of pre-schools that helped in imparting quality education and laying strong basic foundation for a progressive future.
Admitting that education institutions, both government and private, have become more competitive, Pukhayi said it has been observed that some private schools were doing much better than the government schools.
Meanwhile, extending New Year greetings to the community and Nagas, the parliamentary secretary asked the citizens of Nagaland to learn to live together for a peaceful and harmonious society.
Talking to Nagaland Post on the sideline of the function, Eurokids International School (Center-2) chairman Kahoshe S Yepthomi said that it was his long cherished dream to bring a reputed institute in the locality so children could avail quality education without having to travel far.
He said the aim of setting up pre-school in the area, apart from providing quality education, was to provide environment that was conducive for overall development of the child.
Eurokids International School (Center-2) principal Sandeep K Jain, who also runs the same school in Dimapur town, said the idea of setting up the pre-school outside the main town area was to provide an opportunity to parents and children to avail quality education from a reputed school like Eurokids.
He said now the children from the locality and nearby villages need not travel till the main town but avail same education in their own doorstep.
Earlier, a dedicatory prayer for the pre-school was said by Valley View Sumi Baptist Church, associate pastor (youth) Vinika Shohe. The inaugural programme was attended by family, friends and well-wishers.
