Rachü youth celebrates golden jubilee

Rachü Youth Organization (RYO),Viswema, celebrated its golden jubilee on January 9 to 10 at R Khel, Viswema village, one of the biggest southern Angami villages, some 22 km away from the state capital on the theme  “Honour our roots; Prepare our future.”
The message of minister for Social Welfare and Parliamentary Affairs, Kiyanilie Peseyie, was read out by Lhousarovi Paul, PS, as the former could not made to the function as the chief guest. Peseyie in his message dwelt about the competitive world and called upon the youth to stay away from the undesirable things in the society and pick up the right path to excel in their respective fields. He stated that youth are the asset and cream of the village adding that the strength and good conduct of the youth will determine the prestige and prosperity of the village.
In this, Peseyie urged upon the youth to come forward and contribute towards the welfare and betterment of the villagers.
The chief host of the jubilee celebration and former minister, KV Pusa, in his address urged to preserve the forefathers’ values of truth, honesty and hard working which is diminishing in the present society. He also highlighted the past history and activities of RYO. He informed that R-Khel has more than 80 gazetted officers, 500 plus graduate and above in various discipline and around 1000 matriculate with total of more than 3000 population.
He reminded that jubilee is a time to forgive and forget the past misconduct, if any, and called upon the people to take the celebration of jubilee as an opportune time to increase the volume of friendship and oneness.
Er. Pupaho, PS to Er. Kropol Vitsu, in speech as the guest of honour, urged upon the youth to concentrate on practical rather than tall talk on any issue. He also lauded the RYO for its unity and loyalty in all respects and called upon them to continue to carry on such good legacy and pass to the younger generation to follow the suit.
Later, Zhovehu Lohe, former NLA speaker, released a book on Naga traditional attires and ancestral tools, brought out by children of first RYO chairman Vihoto Sothu in his memory.
Earlier, the jubilee monolith was unveiled by Lhousarovi and also released the jubilee souvenir. 
The programme was compered by Abei Theyo and Puvito Neikha, while the invocation prayer was said by pastor of Viswema Baptist Church Rev. Atha Neikha, welcome address was delivered by convener of planning cum organizing committee Khriipi Sothu, special songs by Vihosiinii Lcho and Vieyol Kweho and party, folk song by Mejokhriile Noswe & party and Sakraba youth. The vote of thanks was delivered by president RYO Kropo Neikha and benediction prayer by Medochol Sothu associate pastor NCRC Kohima.
Around 3000 people including representatives from 23 various organizations and villages attended the jubilee programme
It may be mentioned that R-Khel is the biggest khel of Viswema village having a population of more than 3000. Late Vihoto Sothu was the first chairman of RYO from 1965-67.
 RYO has contributed various society developmental activities in the village and around including road construction, sanitation, charity works, helping the sick and needy people, water supply etc.
