Rahul says ‘vote chori’ lies in RSS DNA; BJP likens Nehru family to Mughals

NEW DELHI, DEC 14 (AGENCIES)

The Congress on Sunday held its ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod’ rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, sharpening its attack on the BJP over alleged “vote theft,” while the ruling party hit back by likening the Nehru family to Mughal founder Babar and warning that the Congress would be “buried in history” under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.
Addressing party workers, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi alleged that “vote chori” was in the DNA of BJP-RSS and said Congress stood with satya (truth) and ahimsa (non-violence). He vowed to remove what he described as the “Narendra Modi–RSS government” from power, asserting that while the BJP had satta (power), the Congress followed truth.
Gandhi claimed the party had collected around six crore signatures from across the country against alleged vote theft and would submit them to the President of India.
Gandhi accused the Election Commission of working for the BJP and named Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi in his remarks.
The BJP responded sharply after videos circulated on social media showing some Congress workers allegedly chanting slogans targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi while heading to the rally.
Condemning the sloganeering, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said Congress workers were “wishing for Modi ji’s death” and accused the party of turning into a platform of anarchy.
Trivedi drew a comparison between the Nehru family and the Mughal dynasty, saying the Mughal empire ended after six rulers, from Babar to Aurangzeb, and claiming Congress, led by six members of the Nehru family with Rahul Gandhi as the sixth, would meet a similar fate.
He said the Congress would be “buried in the pages of history” under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, just as the Mughal empire declined after its sixth ruler.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi accompanied Rahul Gandhi at the event.
NPN Adds: A 13-member delegation of the Nagaland Congress, which included AICC minority department national coordinator Rajesh Kumar Sethi, took part in the rally under the leadership of NPCC president and Lok Sabha MP Supongmeren Jamir.
