NEW DELHI, AUG 6 (IANS): Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday urged party workers to extend all possible support for relief and restoration efforts in flood- and landslide-hit Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.
Expressing grief over the loss of lives and widespread destruction, Gandhi said on X that he was deeply saddened by the devastation caused by landslides and flash floods. He conveyed condolences to the bereaved families, wished a speedy recovery to the injured and said he stood in solidarity with all affected families.
Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee also expressed sorrow over the destruction, stating that thousands of families had been displaced and homes, roads, bridges, farmlands and livelihoods severely affected. It urged the government to ensure immediate relief, fair compensation, speedy restoration of services and a long-term disaster mitigation plan.
