Zubza line Aghunaqa area Kikheyi to Tohokhu Village Landowners Union has brought to the notice of Nagaland PWD (Road & Bridges) that as per the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of two-lane road from Kikheyi Village-Tohokhu-Aghunaqa headquarters road constructed under Economic Importance (EI) Scheme, the entire stretch of the proposed road would pass only through the existing route and that no forest would be destroyed in the process.
In a press release, union president Khekato Awomi and general secretary Kuhovi Yeptho said they had no objection if the proposed road was constructed as per the provision of the Detailed Project Report.
The union, however, claimed that the ongoing construction of the two-lane road was being constructed not in accordance with the DPR.
The union said that the land was being acquired beyond the provision of the existing road damaging properties/forest in the process.
The union has, therefore, appealed to the department to compensate for requisition of land beyond the provisions of the existing road and damage caused within a period of one month as per the representation submitted to the chief engineer PWD (R&B) dated November 15, 2019.
In the event of failure to address the demand within stipulated period, the union cautioned that it would be forced to stop the ongoing construction of the proposed two-lane road.
