Raising awareness on non-surgical musculoskeletal care

Rising cases of neck pain, back pain and other musculoskeletal disorders linked to prolonged screen time, poor posture and sedentary lifestyles have highlighted the need for greater awareness of conservative, non-surgical treatment options.
Dr. Imsusunep Jamir, DCB (USA), MD Ch.T (gold medallist), honorary doctorate (honoris causa), founder of “Your Pain Fixer” (Chiropractic Therapy Centre) in Dimapur, has been advocating evidence-informed, drug-free and non-surgical approaches to musculoskeletal care, while emphasising early diagnosis, prevention and patient education.
According to Dr. Imsusunep, many people delay seeking treatment, relying on painkillers or accepting persistent pain as a normal part of ageing. He said early assessment can help prevent minor conditions from developing into long-term problems.
He also sought to dispel misconceptions surrounding chiropractic care, stating that it is not merely “bone cracking” or massage therapy, but focuses on improving joint movement, body function and mobility.
He added that the objective is to help patients regain independence through exercise, posture correction and healthy lifestyle habits rather than creating dependence on treatment.
He observed that musculoskeletal disorders are increasingly affecting younger people due to prolonged use of smartphones and computers, poor workplace ergonomics, inadequate physical activity, lack of sleep and chronic stress.
He advised regular movement, exercise, proper posture and timely medical assessment for persistent pain.
He maintained that chiropractic care should complement, not replace, conventional medicine, adding that patients requiring medical or surgical intervention should be referred accordingly.
His clinic, Your Pain Fixer, was recognised as the Best Emerging Chiropractic Clinic in India in 2025, while his work was featured in Business Outreach’s Business Leaders of the Year 2026.
He said his long-term vision was to promote ethical, patient-centred and evidence-informed musculoskeletal care while improving public awareness and access to conservative treatment options across Nagaland and the Northeast.
