RALH, YAPO object to AssamGovt. plantation drive in DAB

DIMAPUR, AUG 14 (NPN)

Ralan Area Lotha Hoho (RALH) and Yamhon Area Public Organization (YAPO) have opposed the plantation activities reportedly being carried out by the Assam Government in the Disputed Area Belt (DAB), particularly in ‘C’ Sector under Ralan area.
In a joint press statement, C.S. Ovung, chairman of RALH, and Thungdemo Tungoe, president of YAPO, demanded an immediate halt to all plantation and development works in the DAB, citing a violation of the status quo agreement between the states of Nagaland and Assam.
They asserted that no activity should be undertaken in the disputed region without prior mutual understanding and consent between the two governments. RALH and YAPO cautioned that any continuation of such activities would be met with firm resistance in order to protect ancestral land.
They further maintained that any untoward incident arising from the situation would be the responsibility of both state governments.
The two bodies highlighted the recent eviction drive, during which residents of Ralan and Yamhon areas reportedly extended full cooperation to the authorities.
The organizations expressed disappointment that this goodwill was being undermined by unilateral actions in the disputed territory.
Reaffirming their commitment to peace and justice, RALH and YAPO urged the concerned authorities to intervene promptly and uphold mutual respect in resolving the issue.
