The Railway Affected Landowners’ Association (RALOA) has expressed grave concern over the reported issuance of eviction notices to some of its members by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), Lumding Division, despite stay orders granted by the Gauhati High Court.
RALOA general secretary (Admin & Media Cell), Y Hetokhu Awomi, said the move comes against the backdrop of the recent remarks made by chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio during the 14th Session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), where he raised the Dimapur railway land issue and even hinted at possible land relocation as a solution.
RALOA said that despite making all-out efforts to find an amicable settlement to the matter, it was disheartened to learn that NFR was going ahead with issuing eviction notices in violation of the court’s directive.
The association has urged all individual landowners who have received such notices to immediately report to the RALOA office so the issue can be appropriately addressed with the concerned authorities.
