RALOA urges NCD to limit role to pressure group

DIMAPUR, MAY 7 (NPN): Railway Affected Landowners Association (RALOA) has appreciated the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD)’s concern regarding the construction of a world-class railway station at Dimapur but urged the council to restrict its role to that of a pressure group.
In a press release, RALOA president Khekaho Assumi and general secretary Hetokhu Awomi said any involvement beyond that could dilute or further complicate the matter.
They said the association was formed after individual landowners filed several court cases that resulted in stay orders, preventing an amicable settlement with the Railways.
For the past two years, RALOA said it had been actively pursuing the issue, submitting representations in person to both central and state authorities.
It said the matter was also raised in the Nagaland State Assembly and has been forwarded to the Centre for final approval.
The association said the overall situation was normal and railway contractors were carrying out their works without any hindrance
RALOA noted that the legitimate landowners were equally keen for the world-class station and that the matter was on the verge of final settlement.
Therefore, RALOA has appealed to all quarters to allow the association to carry forward the negotiations with the government without further interference.
