Rani Gaidinliu birth anniv observed in Raj Bhavan

The birth anniversary of Rani Gaidinliu was observed at Raj Bhavan, Kohima on January 26 with governor of Nagaland, Assam and Tripura, P.B Acharya paying homage to Rani Gaidinliu. On the occasion, governor placed a portrait of Gaidinliu in the conference hall alongside the portraits of leaders such as P. Shilu Ao, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, Syama Prasad Mukherjee and others, stated a DIPR report.
P. Shilu was the first chief minister of Nagaland state, Deen Dayal was a philosopher, economist, sociologist, historian, journalist, political scientist and the author of the book ‘Integral Humanism’, Syama Prasad was a former Union Minister and an icon of social and patriotic life.
ZWAD Rani Gaidinliu birth centenary celebration
Zeliangrong Welfare Association Delhi (ZWAD) and Zeliangrong Students’ Union Delhi (ZSUD) launched a year-long Rani Gaidinliu birth centenary celebration at Vasant Vihar New Delhi January 26.
To mark the launching programme, ZWAD president Benjamin Pamei lighted the centenary flame and started with traditional Hwai (ho-hoing) followed by Zeliangrong anthem.
Speaking as resource person, IGNOU assistant registrar, also Makaam foundation president, Mathiupuang Gonmei spoke on the “Life and Mission of Rani Gaidinliu”.
Social worker Linda Newmai also spoke on the occasion. Series of programmes, including seminars, workshops, poster campaign etc. would be organized during the year-long celebration.
The grand finale of the centenary programme would be held in the month of November, where cultural troupes from all the north-eastern states of India would be invited to New Delhi for the mega event.
