Says, no decision without people’s knowledge
Government of India’s representative and interlocutor for Indo-Naga peace talk, R.N. Ravi has reportedly assured a delegation of Arunachal Nagas that the Government of India would not take any decision without the knowledge of the people. Ravi also reportedly told the delegation that as per the latest development of peace talk, the ball was in the court of people.
In a press release, ANSF president Nokchai Boham and general secretary Pharo Khamthin said Ravi told this during a consultative meeting with a delegation of Arunachal Nagas from Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts of Arunachal at Dibrugarh, Assam on February 29, 2016. ANSF stated that it convened the meeting to have better relations between two parties (government of India representative and the Tirap, Changlanf and Longding delegation).
According to ANSF, Ravi said that there was one interlocutor and one process of talk for Naga solution and assured that meetings would continue till the final accord was signed.
Stating at the meeting various subjects related to Naga issues were discussed, the ANSF said the people of Tirap, Changlang and Longding “very much welcome the ongoing peace talk between the government of India and the Naga.”
At the meeting, ANSF said the people expressed their opinions to Ravi that within the Naga solution they want to stay independent state or union territory comprising of three districts (Tirap, Changlang and Longding).
The delegation also apprised Ravi of various problems like “military tortures, rise in Naga insurgent group in Naga territory”, which was troubling people living in three districts. They also blamed Centre for not taking care of Naga people in Arunachal Pradesh. They also urged Ravi to extend ceasefire to all Naga inhabited areas, especially Tirap, Changlanfg and Longding.
Lamenting that Nagas of Arunachal have suffered a lot in the past, the delegation said they were not included during 1951 Naga plebiscite and were excluded from the Nagaland statehood in 1963. Due to which, the delegation said Naga people of Arunachal have been going through extreme backwardness. ANSF said Ravi further assured to hold a meeting again in Tirap, Changlang and Longding territory in coming days.
Meanwhile, ANSF said in view of the present Naga political scenario all parties agreed to meet again for further discussion on the subjects and also to involve every Naga citizen in the talk.
