RCD honours teachers with Gyan Jyoti Awards 2026

DIMAPUR: Rotary Club of Dimapur marked Teachers’ Day with gratitude and recognition by hosting the Rotary Gyan Jyoti Awards 2026 at Rotary Centre, Dimapur, on September 10.
On the occasion, six outstanding educators from schools across Dimapur and Chümoukedima were honoured for their dedication: Zuinla Jamir- GHS Sematila, Dimapur; Marina Semy- Cosmopolitan School, Chümoukedima; Dhan Bahadur Chetry- Gonyü Memorial School, Chümoukedima; Renthunglo Ovung- GMS Midland, Dimapur; Loshumbeni-GMS Metha Colony and Anungla Pongener-GHSS Lengrijan
The Club also recognised its own educators, Kitoshi Zhimomi, Monoj Bhattacharjee, and Sanjukta Bhattacharjee, acknowledging Rotarians who continue to contribute to education.
Welcoming the gathering, Club president Pradeep Goel described teachers as architects who shape the careers and character of students, thereby contributing to nation building. He stressed that appreciation for teachers should extend beyond a single day.
Adding a student’s perspective, Interact president, Neiketonuo Shuya spoke on the importance of appreciation, respect and togetherness, reminding the gathering that recognising those who build society is itself a responsibility.
The programme was chaired by Pradip Jain with Sanjay Jain as co chair. It may be noted that Rotary Gyan Jyoti Awards 2026 served not only as an awards ceremony but as a reminder that behind every confident student, successful professional and responsible citizen, there is a teacher who once chose to guide, encourage and believe.
