RD department observes ‘Digital India Week’ in Kma

Along with the rest of the country, Department of Rural Development Thursday observed “Digital India Week” here at its conference hall.
In his speech, rural development director Metsubo Jamir said that one cannot avoid digital age anymore and added that one cannot survive in the in this digital age without knowing something about digitization or using digital instruments/ devices.
Stating that the ultimate aim of this process was to make sure that the VDBs are also involved, Jamir said that the department have to make the VDBs learn so that they could in turn educate the villagers.
Also stating that a time has come to learn about digitization and keep up with the progress, he asserted that human beings have to evolve as well along with digitization.
Dwelling on significance of “Digital India Week”, rural development additional director Hilo Semp said with this launch one can see the impact and changes in the years to come. Rural development joint director Thungdeno Mozhui said under “Digital India Week” programme, the citizens are to be engaged in the ongoing initiatives of the government in the area of e-governance and to educate them of the importance of IT.
She informed that the Ministry would be implementing a mobile based project for mapping of assets of Panchayats, where Nagaland is included in the first phase of the mission mode project.
Meanwhile, the department informed all the district officers involving the BDO’s and the village level to observe “Digital India Week” from July 3-7.
Further, as part of the ongoing “Digital India Week”, the department in collaboration with the department of IT and NIC will be organizing a quiz programme with three participants from each schools (Class 9-12 students) on July 4 at RD Conference Hall, Kohima. Chief secretary Pankaj Kumar will launch the RD official website and LGD on July 6 at Secretariat Conference Hall, Kohima.
