Rural Development department has informed all job card holders under MGNREGA to open their bank accounts to avail the benefits through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Informing this in a press note, RD commissioner (MGNREGA) and secretary Kelei Zeliang, IAS said DBT has been implemented from April 1, 2017 along with rest of the country for direct cash transfer of wages to the respective job card holder’s bank accounts. In this regard, BDOs have been directed to coordinate and assist the job card holders in their respective Blocks to open MGNREGA job card holders bank accounts. It further requested all the branch managers of various banks to extend their cooperation in opening of “0” balance bank accoun ts of the job card holders.
