Reception programme heldfor Commissioner Nagaland

A reception programme was organised in honour of Commissioner Nagaland Gregory Thejawelie at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Kohima, on Friday.
Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, in his welcome address, appreciated Thejawelie’s long service in the district and described him as a dependable leader. He said the district administration and people of Kohima take pride in his elevation, noting his ability to connect with people.
Highlighting the legacy of the Kohima DC Office, established in 1879, Buchem said preparations should begin for its 150-year anniversary in 2029. He outlined priorities including improving infrastructure, enhancing staff capacity, and strengthening e-governance. He also informed that digitisation efforts, including an Indigenous ST and PRC system, were nearing completion. In his address, Gregory Thejawelie expressed gratitude, describing the visit as a “homecoming”, and recalled his decade-long service in Kohima in various capacities. He acknowledged the role of senior officers and staff in shaping his career.
He emphasised teamwork, dedication and responsibility in public service, and appreciated improvements in infrastructure and digitisation. On challenges such as space constraints and manpower shortage, he assured that efforts would be made to address them, including expediting recruitment processes. Short speeches were delivered by representatives of administrative officers, ministerial staff and Dobashis. The programme, chaired by EAC Limakumla Pongener, concluded with a vote of thanks by ADC Ruopfukuotuo Noudi. It also featured re-dedication of the DC Office and unveiling of a plaque by the Commissioner.
