Red run-marathon held in Mon

DIMAPUR, AUG 2 (NPN)

Red Run- Marathon was held on August 2, organized by the District Integrated Strategy for HIV/AIDS (DISHA) and funded by the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society.
A press release by District Media Coordinator, NHM, Mon, Leeyan Chemshy, stated that the race began at the local ground and travelled 10 kilometres to the DIET centre and then returned to the starting location. The event was open to all interested participants, with 128 runners between the ages of 17 and 25 enrolled.
Following the run, Dr. Wungyong Konyak, DPO (RCH&UIP), remarked that the marathon is not only about health, but also about raising awareness. He said, “Each of you has become an ambassador to educate people about HIV/AIDS.”
He also mentioned that taking 7000 steps per day reduces the risk of numerous diseases and sudden death. He then commended all of the winners and participants on their efforts for the cause.
Longyim Tzudir, DPO DISHA, congratulated all of the organizers, including the Mon District Athletic Association (MDAA), educational institutions, Youth Resource & Sports, Shansham organization, District Administration, Police Department, CMO & DISHA staffs and all the wards of Mon town. He also thanked the SP and DPO (RCH and UIP) for making time for the event.
Earlier, the race began with a word of prayer by Panlang, Chairman, prayer committee Zaklom fellowship KBCM and was flagged off by Kanchan Kumar Kandpal IPS SP, Mon at 5:40 am.
The winners were declared by Mr T Phongwang K, President MDAA and the whole event was chaired by Longthrang DIS DISHA.
Nahzei S. Konyak secured the first position in the male category, followed by T. Manlang Konyak in second place and Mr. Wangtho C. Wangsa in third. In the female category, first place went to T Phenjen Konyak, followed by Hanna Konyak and Wanjen C. Konyak
The winners were rewarded with prize money and a certificate signed by CMO and DPO DISHA, while the remaining participants also received a certificate of gratitude.
