One day regional review workshop on family planning for Northeastern States was held on December 20 at Hotel Vivor, Kohima.
While welcoming the officials from the districts of Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland, mission director, National Health Mission (NHM), Dr.Limaakum Jamir called upon the participants to take full opportunity of the occasion and clarify all confusions by sharing problems and seek for solutions from the government officials present at the workshop.
Commissioner and secretary department of health and family welfare, R.Ramakrishnan also spoke on the occasion, reported DIPR.
He also stressed on the importance of roping-in all stakeholders especially the churches and creating awareness on the importance of family planning among the people.
Deputy Director (family planning), Ministry of Health & Family Planning, Government of India, Dr.S.KSikdar informed that the government of India was concerned towards the Northeastern States, taking into account the constraints being faced by the people of the region. Dr.Sikdar also made a presentation on where the States stands when it comes to Family Planning programme and where we need to improve.
He also highlighted on the new initiatives taken up by the Government of India under Family Planning programme. Dr.Sikdar was accompanied by Dr.Nidhi Bhatt, Dr.UpasnaNaik and Dr.Shikha Bansal all from SPOs under Family Planning division, Ministry of health and family welfare, government of India.
