Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (N&M Region) organized a one day regional workshop cum launch of special outreach programme to highlight the two years achievement of the government of India under the theme “my country is changing – marching forward” at the conference hall of the Circuit House in Kohima on June 25.
Speaking at the programme as the chief guest, director of postal services, department of post, Kohima, R.M. Patel said that the role of service providing department, such as DFP, postal department and other similar department, were vital in ensuring the success of any government welfare schemes.
Pointing out that the central government has launched various schemes to cater to different sections of society including women and farmers he asked DFP to create meaningful publicity so that the needy and the eligible beneficiaries were empowered.
Delivering speech as guest of honour, Modern College principal, Dr. H.P. Singh, underscored the need to empower youth with skills in order to meet the challenges of growing unemployment and poverty. He said that the need of the hour was to trained youth in various fields through skill development programmes.
Addressing the gathering as the president of the function, joint director, DIPR, Dominic Yazokie said that though information and publicity departments may not perform any tangible or physical development, their role was equally important as it empower the common people with information and knowledge.
In his keynote address, director DFP (Nagaland & Manipur) region, Dr. Engam Pame IIS said that through valuable inputs from resource persons on various subjects and relevant themes, the workshop would effectively equip and educate field officers. He informed that DFP would be reaching out to the people living at the grass-root and micro level by carrying out intensive awareness campaign on the two years achievement of the central government in two states of Nagaland and Manipur region.
During the technical session, resource person Zubemo Lotha, assistant director Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Daniel Domeh, System administrator department of postal services, Bino, district welfare officer, department of social welfare presented an overview of their respective departments and deliberated on the various central government schemes.
