DIMAPUR: Office of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dimapur has informed all proprietors and managers of private hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, dental clinics, pharmacies with attached doctors for consultation, and AYUSH health centers operating within districts of Dimapur, Chumoukedima, and Niuland, that registration under Nagaland Health Care Establishments Act, 1997 (NHCEA, 1997) was mandatory.
A press release by CMO office directed all existing health care establishments to apply for renewal of their registration/license at least six months before date of expiry to ensure uninterrupted validity of their license and compliance with the provisions of the Act.
It further added that no hospital, nursing home, clinic, dental clinic, pharmacy engaging a doctor for consultation, or AYUSH health center shall commence operations without first obtaining valid registration/license from the competent authority under NHCEA, 1997.
It also added that pharmacies engaging doctors for consultation are deemed to be functioning as clinics and are therefore required to obtain registration under the provisions of the Act.
All owners and managements have also been requested to ensure strict compliance with the provisions of the Act in the interest of patient safety, quality health care, and legal compliance. The CMO office warned that failure to comply may invite action as per provisions of Nagaland Health Care Establishments Act, 1997 and Rules framed there under.
For registration, renewal, or further clarification, applicants have been informed to contact Office of Chief Medical Officer during working hours or obtain the prescribed application form from the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland.
