Relief efforts extended to flood-hit families

Dimapur

As heavy rains continue to affect Dimapur, relief efforts have been stepped up to support families impacted by recent floods.
BJP Nagaland, under the leadership of state president Benjamin Yepthomi, distributed relief materials to flood-affected families in Dimapur on July 7. Areas covered in the relief drive included SM Colony, Rio Colony, Naga Gaon, Sachu Colony and Imkonglenden Colony.
The party stated that the initiative was part of its commitment to Seva (service), Sushasan (good governance), and Garib Kalyan (welfare of the poor). BJP Nagaland expressed solidarity with the affected families and reaffirmed its commitment to provide timely support during such crises.
In a similar effort, Educentre Livelihood & Entrepreneurship Skills Centre (ELESC), a local NGO based in Dimapur, distributed food relief packages to over 80 families in Vilhume Colony on July 8. The distribution was carried out in collaboration with Vilhume Council.
According to ELESC, the colony has faced severe hardship due to recent floods.
Special priority was given to vulnerable groups including children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
ELESC chairman, Lezo Putsure, stated that the relief was part of a broader effort to provide both immediate assistance and long-term recovery support. “Our priority is to ensure that every kind of support is extended to the affected in the aftermath of this natural disaster,” he said.
ELESC also called on individuals, businesses and community groups to come forward and contribute towards the ongoing relief operations.
