Sümi Hoho (SH) has strongly objected to NFHRCC’s “personal attack” against PWD (R&B) minister G. Kaito Aye published on February 28, 2025.
SH through its media cell asserted that contributions minister Kaito Aye, a seven-term MLA and one of the most senior leaders– should be met with due respect. The hoho maintained that the language used by NFHRCC has not only disrespected the minister but has also hurt the sentiments of his community—an issue the Sümi Hoho cannot ignore. SH said it had formally communicated with NFHRCC convenor and urged the committee to issue an apology or take appropriate corrective measures.
However, SH said the committee remained silent on the matter. Asserting it continued to support the broader objectives of NFHRCC, the hoho, however, affirmed asserts that personal attacks questioning the minister’s experience and competence were unacceptable. SH said it expected “a responsible and timely response” from the committee.
Meanwhile, SH has also sought seek clarification from the NFHRCC regarding allegations that the committee sought work allotment in the construction of the Nagaland Foothill Road.
The hoho stated that public discourse following 14th NLA proceedings reported in media brought to light that NFHRCC sought “contractual work” and that certain works were allegedly “assigned to the committee through registered contractors since it did not meet the requisite criteria for direct allotment.”
SH said the issue was concerning because NFHRCC was not formed to undertake construction but to facilitate and ensure project’s timely completion with transparency and quality.
SH said it acknowledged the role played by NFHRCC in advocating for this vital road project and always extended its full support. However, SH said that any deviation from its original mandate necessitates clarification to uphold public confidence. SH has, therefore, urged NFHRCC to provide a transparent response to address those concerns.
