Remuneration for poll officials enhanced

Election Commission of India (ECI) has enhanced remuneration for presiding officers, polling officers, counting personnel, micro observers and other officials. In a press release, ECI assistant director Apurva Kumar Singh informed that the commission has also enhanced honorarium for deputy DEOs, CAPF personnel, sector officers besides enhancing the rates for food/refreshment for polling/counting duty.
For ensuring that personnel on election duty were compensated suitably, the commission said it decided to revise the rates of remuneration/honorarium to be paid to personnel on election duty. The last such major revision of remuneration/honorarium was done between 2014 and 2016.
