Renewable Energy Day observed in state

Day long programme in commemoration of Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas Renewable Energy Day was observed here at the state capital, Wednesday.
A painting competition on ‘Renewable Energy’ and essay competition on “The use of renewable energy and its impact in control of global warming” was conducted at the Zonal conference Hall. Altogether 29 students participated in the painting competition, while 24 students participated in the essay competition from 15 different schools.
Zhiipuo from Model Higher Secondary School bagged the first prize in painting competition, while Apisa from Model Higher Secondary School and Thejozo from Dainty Buds School got the second and third positions respectively. In the essay competition, Thecaneilhounuo from North Field came out as the winner, Nuolezhanuo from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School got the second and Visede Liegise from Mezhür Higher Secondary School got the third prize. The winners were presented with solar lamps and certificates, while all the participants were awarded certificates. ADC Zeneituo Yano gave away the prizes to the winners.
The judges for the essay competition were Sungjeminla Changkija, lecturer, Kohima College Kohima; Dzüvinuo Theünuo, I&PR Nagaland; and Temjenyapang, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Kohima. In the painting competition, the judges were V. Obed Solo, Assistant Director (NCE), Rural Development; Merimvu Doulo, local artist; and Khrietuo Pienyü, local artist, DC Office. The first and second prize winners of both the competitions will participate in the state level essay and painting competitions to be held on September 12 at Directorate of Rural Development, to be organized by the Nagaland renewable Energy Development Agency (NREDA).
Earlier, a Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas Run was also held early morning from Badminton Indoor Stadium till Kohima Local Ground. Participated by college students in Kohima town, the run was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Sachopra Vero.
