Rescued wild leopard rehabilitated at Nagaland Zoological Park Rangapahar

Under the close supervision and direction of chief wildlife warden, M. Mhonbemo Ngullie, rescue operation for rehabilitation of a common leopard from a farm at Longpong Ward Tuli, Mokokchung was successfully conducted on July 12.  

A press release by Nagaland Zoological Park (NZP) director, Dr. Prabhat Kumar stated that, the leopard was trapped by village youths in a locally made trap on July 11, with the help of chairman of Longpong Ward Council, Nukshi and safely handed over to the range officer of Tuli, Ailong under the supervision of DFO Mokokchung, Dr. Sentitula. 
The leopard was attended to by local veterinarian, SPBC Merangkong, Dr. Toshiwati until the arrival of rescue team dispatched by wildlife warden Dimapur, Tokaho Kinimi. Rescue team led by WCCB Dimapur Hukai Zhimo along with veterinary surgeon Dimapur Dr. Michael and veterinary doctor from College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Jalukie Dr. K. Kuotsu and support staff safely brought the animal to Dimapur. 
The rescued female common leopard is now safely rehabilitated in a protected cell of the zoo.
