Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh on Monday reaffirmed that the resettlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by the ongoing violence remains a top priority for his government.
The chief minister convened a meeting with representatives of IDP committees at the Secretariat in Imphal to review the current needs of displaced families residing in relief camps across the valley districts. In a post on his official Facebook page, Singh described the interaction as “constructive and meaningful,” noting that detailed deliberations were held on the safe and dignified resettlement of IDPs from Moreh, Churachandpur, and Kangpokpi who are yet to return home.
He assured that every necessary step is being carefully examined to ensure long-term security and stability. For families already resettled, Singh said the government is strengthening rehabilitation measures, livelihood support, and welfare initiatives to help them rebuild their lives with confidence and dignity.
“Our government stands committed to healing, rebuilding and moving forward together – ensuring peace, inclusivity and a secure future for every citizen of Manipur,” Singh wrote.
Later in the day, the chief minister also met a delegation of the Naga People’s Organisation (NPO) Manipur, led by its president Peter Kuba. Singh termed the interaction “constructive and forward-looking,” focusing on strengthening peace, mutual understanding, and inclusive development.
Reaffirming his commitment to uphold the dignity and aspirations of all communities, Singh emphasized the need to phase out distrust and negativity. “Together, we shall build a harmonious Manipur where all 36 communities live with unity, joy and shared prosperity,” he said, calling for dialogue, cooperation, and a shared vision for a peaceful and Viksit Manipur.
