Reshuffle on the cards: Rio says consultations on

Cabinet reshuffle is likely to take place soon as Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio Saturday informed that consultations were on with PDA coalition partners.

In a brief interaction with Nagaland Post on the sidelines of a progarmme, Rio said owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, he was not able to go to Delhi to consult Central leaders.

Rio, however, said that once things are made clear after the due consultation process, the reshuffle will be done. Though, he did not mention any timeframe, sources said that reshuffle will take place soon. The last reshuffle of PDA-led government took place in 2017.

Currently, in the 12-member cabinet, one seat fell vacant following the demise of then minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Justice and Law and senior NDPP member, C.M. Chang. The seat was however filled after NDPP candidate and former minister, H. Chuba Chang was declared elected unopposed for the by-election to the 51 Noksen constituency. The PDA cabinet presently comprises of four NDPP members, six BJP and one Independent member.
