Retired Man Axes Wife, Son and Daughter to Death in Jamshedpur, Surrenders to Police

Jamshedpur, May 11 (IANS): In a chilling incident that has sent shockwaves across Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, a retired man identified as Ravindra Prasad Singh allegedly hacked his 55-year-old wife Sarita Singh, 31-year-old daughter Supriya Singh, and 30-year-old son Ravishek Kumar to death with an axe at their residence in Quarter No. L-5/13 in the Agrico area under Sidhgora police station limits late on Sunday night, before spending the entire night inside the house with the bodies. The shocking incident came to light on Monday morning around 8.30 a.m. when the accused himself called Dial-100 to inform the police about the murders and expressed his desire to surrender. A team from Sidhgora police station rushed to the spot, detained the accused, and sealed the area for investigation, while senior police officials and a forensic science team arrived at the crime scene to collect evidence. The bodies of all three victims have been sent to MGM Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Preliminary findings and statements from local residents suggest that the family had been experiencing internal disputes for some time, with investigators suspecting that the accused had been under severe mental stress and suffering from irritability following his retirement from a private company in February this year – a factor that may have triggered the brutal killings. The crime scene is located close to the private residence of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das, adding to the shock and attention surrounding the incident. The gruesome murders created widespread panic and fear in the locality as news spread through the neighbourhood. Police have said that further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events and establish the precise motive behind the triple murder.
