The 88th annual council of Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) was held from January 30 to February 2, 2025, at Yesisotha, under the theme “Experiencing God Together”. The event was hosted by Pochury Baptist Church Council (PBCC) at PBCC Mission Centre and Yesisotha Village.
At the session, the new team of NBCC was installed, with Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, executive secretary of ABAM, as general secretary of NBCC and Katoli V. Sümi, secretary of the Women’s Department SBAK as the women secretary of NBCC.
Other new NBCC officials included Rev. Achu Chang as president, Rev. Dr. C. Cho-o and Dr. Igumpeule as vice presidents, Rev. Ezieteilung Terieng replaced Rev. T. W. Yamyap, and Rev. Dr. Hukashe A. Zhimomi as managing director of CHSS.
The farewell, installation blessing, and commissioning prayer were led by former general secretary of NBCC, Rev. Dr. L. Anjo Keikung. In a press release, outgoing general secretary, NBCC, Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho informed that the theme “Experiencing God Together” focused on guarding faith, living the gospel, being prophetic, and bearing each other.
The council also reaffirmed its commitment to the gospel’s transformative power and set resolutions for spiritual renewal, transformational discipleship, community development, and social justice, unity of the church, biblical literacy and stewardship of resources.
Speakers of the session were Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, Visasieü Dolie, and pastor, NCF, Chennai, Wapangtoshi. It included executive sessions, council business, worship services, and activities like a choral competition, inter-association interactions, and cultural exchanges, celebrating their unique culture. The 88th annual gathering was attended by over 600 delegates from across the state.
