DIMAPUR: District Task Force Immunization meetings were convened in Peren and Wokha on June 23 to review ongoing campaigns and preparations for upcoming national programmes.
In Peren, the meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Hiazu Meru at the DC’s Conference Hall focused on measurable indicators at state and district levels to stop diarrhoea and measles rubella. R. Khartu Monsang, RPO UNDP, highlighted that the district had achieved 80% success in measles rubella vaccination and routine immunization. Dr. Valentina Neikha, DPO UIP/RCH, outlined the objectives of the campaign, stressing high coverage of ORS and zinc usage in children with diarrhoea and intensifying prevention through a multi stakeholder approach to achieve zero child deaths. The DC urged departments to intensify awareness efforts and reactivate village level participation to ensure success.
In Wokha, the District Task Force for Immunization meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner K. Mhathung Tsanglao reviewed preparations for the National Immunization Day Pulse Polio campaign scheduled from June 28 to 30, 2026. District Programme Officer Thungchanbeni Patton briefed on strategies to achieve 80% coverage on the first day, followed by door to door visits to ensure 100% coverage.
Altogether, 193 vaccination booths will be set up across the district, supported by supervisors, mobile teams in Wokha and Bhandari towns, and five transit point teams. The DC appealed to communities and line departments to extend full support for the success of the drive.
