Revoke appointment of NHM mission director: NIDA to govt

Sets 10-day deadline Warns of phase wise stir

Nagaland In-service Doctors’ Association (NIDA) has set a 10-day deadline (w.e.f. March 3) demanding the state government revoke the appointment of National Health Mission (NHM) mission director, failing which the association said it would go for an agitation.
NIDA president Dr. Kedozeto Punyu and general secretary Dr. Vezokholu informed that the decision was made during its general body meeting held on March 2.
If the government fails to fulfill the demand, NIDA said it would launch phase wise agitations like mass casual leave on March 15, total cease work of all administrative and managerial works including centrally sponsored schemes from March 16 both at the state and district level, followed by total closure of all hospitals and health units, CMO office, MS office.
NIDA said as per the association’s resolution, the NHM mission director post should be held by the medical fraternity, a person who is the senior most director or next in line and not otherwise. NIDA said it stood for one man one post and senior most, so as to avoid any misunderstanding/mistrust among its members and to have a conductive working atmosphere in the department.
It pointed out that “pick and choose” could lead to demoralization, insincerity, indiscipline leading to total collapse of health care system in the state. NIDA further reminded that the association stood for accountability, transparency and justice without any bias.
