Assam Royal Global University (RGU) has announced two new scholarship schemes exclusively for the dependents and wards of Nagaland Police personnel, as part of its effort to promote equitable access to higher education and honour the service of security forces.
The scholarships—Royal Shaurya and Royal Suraksha—aim to recognize the contributions of police personnel. Royal Shaurya offers 100% scholarship to families of martyrs and gallantry awardees, while Royal Suraksha provides 50% tuition support to wards of serving Nagaland Police personnel. These scholarships apply to courses regulated by statutory bodies such as AICTE, COA, PCI, INC, ANMHVC, BCI, and others.
RGU director of Growth and Strategy, Utpal Kanta, stated that the university has been offering various scholarships since its inception. These include the Royal Merit on Admission Scholarship, Royal Scholarship for EWS category, Royal Endowment Scholarship, RGU Sports Scholarship, and Monthly Scholarship for Semester Toppers.
The Royal Merit on Admission Scholarship offers full coverage of annual, admission, and registration fees. The Royal Scholarship for EWS provides 100% support to students from economically weaker sections. The Royal Endowment Scholarship is available across all programmes and includes categories such as sports, music, fine arts, differently abled students, children of Padma Awardees, wards of single mothers, and families with income below Rs. 8 lakh.
The RGU Sports Scholarship supports athletes with financial aid and mentorship, offering scholarships ranging from 40% to 100% based on achievements at international, national, state, and district levels in sports recognized by the Indian Olympic Association.
To promote academic excellence, the university also offers a Monthly Scholarship of Rs. 3,000 to semester toppers across departments.
