The North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, will organise “Rhythms of Freedom – Tiranga”, an Independence Day charity concert on August 15 at the Amphitheatre of the NEZCC Stone Sculpture Garden, Dimapur.
The concert, scheduled from 5 p.m. onwards, is dedicated to supporting families of disaster victims across Nagaland. According to NEZCC, all proceeds from ticket bookings and donations will go towards supporting disaster-affected families across the state. Tickets and donations are available through AHIBI.
The event aims to combine Independence Day celebrations with an expression of solidarity and compassion, bringing together artists, choirs, bands and cultural groups representing Nagaland’s diverse communities.
The programme will open with the National Song by Hoiying Walim, followed by the National Anthem presented by Musik-A School. Pastor Joshua Kath of Nagamese Baptist Church, Nagarjan, will offer the invocation, followed by folk performances by the Dimasa Union, Dimapur, and Marwari Samaj, Dimapur.
The musical segment will feature Kivika Achumi, Kekhrie Ringa, Lenen Jamir, Hentok Konyak and Sunep Lemtur, besides performances by 5 Minutes Band and Colored Keys.
Cultural presentations by the Muslim Council, Punjabi Samaj, Bihari Samaj, Nepali Samaj, Gorkha Union, Bengali Samaj and Tibetan/Bhutia Welfare Association will showcase the cultural diversity of communities living in Nagaland.
The final segment will feature a choral performance by Cantamus Choir, a special performance by the Nise Meruno & Tetso College Choir and the grand finale by Abdon Mech. The programme will conclude with a vote of thanks, followed by networking, media interaction and a group photograph.
The event is being managed by Musik-A, with support from KAKI, Nagaland Coffee, SBI and The Big Fat Factory.
NEZCC Director Alobo Naga said the concert was intended to turn the spirit of Independence Day into an act of collective support for families affected by disasters across Nagaland.
The organisers have invited the people of Nagaland to join the celebration and stand in solidarity with families in need.
