A thatched “rice hotel” and an adjoining thatched house were completely destroyed in a fire that broke out at Kevijau Colony here on Saturday at around 11:50 a.m.
Officials from the fire department told Nagaland Post that three fire engines, two from West and one from Central station, were pressed into action, and it took almost one hour to douse the fire. However, officials said, no casualties were reported.
Fire officials informed that safety officers from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOLC) located at Kevijau Colony also assisted the firefighters in controlling the fire. Fire officials said the cause of the fire was suspected to be due to a short circuit and that assessment of the property damaged was yet to be ascertained.
