RIIN should be for Nagas by blood only: JCPI

In view of the process to implement the Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) from July 10, Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigration (JCPI) has categorically demanded that RIIN “must be only for Nagas by blood.”

In a press note, JCPI convenor K. Ghokheto Chophy and secretary Tia Longchar further stated that the committee during its meeting held on July 1 resolved that the cut off year for the RIIN must be with effect from December 1, 1963 as per the notification No.AR-8/8/76 dated 28th April 1977, Kohima.
Meanwhile, JCPI has called for an emergency meeting with all tribal apex bodies of Nagaland on July 5, 2019, at 11 a.m. in the Conference Hall of Hotel Saramati, Dimapur.
The meeting has been convened to deliberate on the notification issued by chief secretary on RIIN, JCPI added.
