Rijiju arrives in Sikkim on three-day visit

Union Minister for Parliamentary and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Thursday arrived in Sikkim on a three-day visit during which he is scheduled to hold meetings with state leaders and review ongoing projects, officials said.
Rijiju was received by state minister Sonam Lama and other dignitaries at Rangpo.
The Union minister is scheduled to offer prayers at a Buddhist monastery on May 1 on the occasion of Buddha Purnima.
“He will also hold meetings with local leaders and review ongoing projects under the Ministry of Minority Affairs,” an official said.
Upon his arrival, Rijiju underscored infrastructure progress in the Himalayan state, including improvements in road networks, rail connectivity, aviation, and digital access over the past 12 years.
He said such developments have accelerated economic growth and strengthened connectivity across the northeast region.
Describing Sikkim as a “small yet prosperous” state, Rijiju said it continues to serve as a model of balanced development, expressing confidence that it will maintain the upward growth trajectory in the coming years.
