In the backdrop of friendly contests between the BJP and NDPP in the urban local body (ULB) polls, Tourism and Higher Education minister Temjen Imna Along categorically asserted that the PDA government under chief minister Neiphiu Rio was intact.
Speaking to reporters at his residence on Thursday, Along said that both the BJP and NDPP were committed to the alliance. He said the coalition government still had four more years to serve the people of Nagaland, reiterating that the government was committed to providing stability and good governance to the people.
Acknowledging the debacle in the recent Lok Sabha election where PDA consensus candidate Dr Chumben Murry was defeated by Congress’s S Supongmeren Jamir, Along said every election had some issues that influenced the final outcome. However, he assured that the PDA under the leadership of chief minister Neiphiu Rio was committed to solve all the issues plaguing the state.
He also reiterated that the opposition-less government was committed to try and resolve the issues, besides increasing the pace of development in Nagaland.
Along asserted that the state government was willing to facilitate resolving the Naga political issue in the best possible way and in the fastest manner possible under the NDA government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“We also need to be assertive as a people first and the aim is to come together to solve the Naga political issue. We will not to be able to reach our destination without it,” he added.
Referring to the recently formed Political Affairs Committee (PAC) on Naga political issue, Along said the government had confidence in the Centre’s ability to ensure lasting peace in the state for prosperity.
When asked about possibilities of a cabinet reshuffle, Along said it was the prerogative of the chief minister and the alliance leadership in Delhi.
