Rio prioritizes Tuli’s growth: Rail upgrade, industry boost

State chief minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, who undertook an official visit to Tuli sub-division under Mokokchung district on March 12, 2025 to assess developmental projects and interact with local communities, emphasized on the goal of Viksit Bharat@2047.


According to a DIPR report, the chief minister, while addressing the local populace, stressed the importance of aligning Nagaland’s growth with the national vision for a developed India by 2047, the 100th year of India’s independence.


Dr. Rio called for collective efforts from the people to accelerate progress in all sectors.
Expressing happiness over the active participation of the public in the construction of the Foothill Road, the chief minister acknowledged their cooperation as a driving force behind the project. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving connectivity and infrastructure in the region.


The chief minister, who visited Longnakba Lenden Tuli Railway Station, announced that the state government had engaged in discussions with the Ministry of Railways to upgrade services in the area.


Dr. Rio also assured that efforts would be made to extend the facility beyond goods transport to include passenger services, enhancing accessibility for the people.
Stressing on the revival of the Tuli Paper Mill, a long-standing concern for the people of the region, the chief minister further reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring its operations.


Dr Rio highlighted the ongoing coordination with 3ACSL Company to facilitate the mill’s revival, ensuring employment opportunities and industrial growth.
The chief minister also placed strong emphasis on the dignity of labour and urged people to respect all forms of work and cultivate a self-reliant attitude.


The chief minister’s itinerary commenced with his arrival at the Tzudikong Town helipad, followed by a visit to Wameken Village, where he inaugurated the newly constructed Wameken Village Council Hall (Panchayat Bhavan).


The visit also included a stop at the Sentimeren Memorial Watch Tower at Kangtsung Village. Continuing the tour, the chief minister arrived at the Longnakba Lenden Tuli Railway Station, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving connectivity in the region.


He later visited the ongoing Foothill Road construction site, emphasizing the importance of better road infrastructure for economic and social development.


The chief minister was accompanied by minister rural development and SIRD, Metsubo Jamir; advisor fisheries & aquatic resources A. Pangjung Jamir; advisor geology & mining and DUDA, W. Chingang Konyak; Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA, and Benei M. Lamthiu, MLA.

Others present included additional secretary to the chief minister, Sentiwapang Aier, along with heads of departments and administrators from Mokokchung headquarters and Tuli sub-division.
