On the issue of selection of teachers in the exam conducted by Nagaland Education Mission Society, RMSA, the Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) has extended its ultimatum by 15 more days after its 30-day deadline expired on Saturday.
On December 15, 2015, ASTD served a 30-day ultimatum on the state government asking to explain why only five candidates qualified in respect of Ao subject teacher in viva voce in spite of 26 successful candidates in written exam against 20 posts.
Speaking to Nagaland Post, ASTD president Supu Jamir said the union at a meeting held on Saturday resolved to resort to “democratic means” in the form of bandh or agitation if RMSA failed to respond within 15 days.
He also stated ASTD would not allow fresh interview of Ao language teachers, but let RMSA choose from among the 21 candidates.
Asking RMSA “not to use two yardsticks for one matter”, ASTD said it rejected the statement made by RMSA on December 17 that the State Mission Authority did not get sufficient number of candidates having 45% or above in graduation for Ao, Sumi and Lotha languages.
He said that the “so called criteria” was not mentioned when the advertisement was made for the post of language teacher.
