Road repair at Mokokchung town begins

DIMAPUR

The long-awaited repair and upgradation of IOC to Rotary Junction Road stretch in Mokokchung town commenced on June 19. The project will be undertaken by Northeast Enterprise, Dimapur.
Addressing the media, MMC Councillor Imtiyapang expressed appreciation to Metsübo Jamir for his support in facilitating the project’s early start. “The IOC to Rotary Junction Road is a lifeline for the people of Mokokchung, and its improvement will bring significant relief to daily commuters,” he said.
The project, valued at ₹242.72 lakhs, is expected to be completed within eight months, with a defect liability period of two years. The work will be jointly supervised by the councillors of five wards—Arkong, Aongza, Salangtem, Kichutip, and Sangtemla along with members of the Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKSC).
Due to the ongoing monsoon season, the initial phase of the project will focus on levelling and pothole improvement to ease immediate traffic concerns. Carpeting and drainage construction will follow after the rains, adhering to technical specifications.
Ongpangkong Students’ Conference, president, Tongpangmangyang stated that the conference will oversee the project’s progress, ensuring quality and timely completion within the stipulated 8 months. “We urge the public to bear with the temporary traffic inconvenience, considering the long-term benefits of the improved road infrastructure,” he added.
The project is expected to enhance the overall infrastructure of Mokokchung town and bring relief to commuters. The ward authorities and the Ongpangkong Students’ Conference have assured that the work will be done as per the specifications, without compromising on quality and quantity.
