Road show held for Kengurüse Trophy

The excitement for the 9th Edition of the Capt. (Late) N. Kengurüse, MVC (Posthumous) Memorial Football Tournament gained momentum on Monday as a vibrant road show was held in Kohima, marking the countdown to the prestigious event scheduled to commence on October 22 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
Organised by the Assam Rifles in collaboration with the Nagaland Football Association (NFA), the road show celebrated the spirit of unity, sportsmanship, and remembrance of the late Captain Neikezhakuo Kengurüse, MVC (Posthumous)—a valiant soldier and a symbol of courage and inspiration for the people of Nagaland.
The colourful rally brought the state capital to life, featuring enthusiastic participation from local football clubs, students, sports fans, and cultural troupes. Vehicles and participants displayed banners, flags, and posters reflecting this year’s tournament theme, “One State, One Game, One Goal.”
The event, now recognised as one of Nagaland’s most anticipated football tournaments, continues to serve as a vital platform for young players to showcase their talents while promoting peace, harmony, and brotherhood through sports.
Following the rally, officials, organisers, and football enthusiasts gathered for an informal interaction, sharing their anticipation and hopes for the upcoming championship. The gathering marked a symbolic build-up to the grand opening of the tournament, which will feature teams from across the region competing for the coveted title.
According to the organisers, the road show will continue on Tuesday at Chiepobozou, Tseminyu, and Wokha, further amplifying the excitement as the countdown to the opening match begins.
