Shayon Ghosh and Regainlu Kri of Global Valley School, Roing, emerged champions of the third edition of Arunachal Pradesh’s youth quiz and edutainment show, Battle of Minds, which concluded at DK Hall in Itanagar on Saturday.
The duo secured 320 points in the closely contested Grand Finale to finish ahead of Marpin Bagra and Gobin Daw of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Aalo, who secured second place with 245 points.
Jumnam Rallen and Castro Meme of RKMS Narottam Nagar finished third with 165 points, while Basar Megu and Niton Kadu of VKV Oyan secured fourth place with 120 points.
The third edition saw 1,376 participants from across Arunachal Pradesh, a significant increase from the 106 participants recorded in the inaugural edition.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Pema Khandu appreciated the growth in participation and described the increase as “very impressive”. Khandu said he would advise the Department of Youth Affairs to take the competition to “every nook and corner of the state” in the coming years, providing young people across Arunachal Pradesh with opportunities to participate.
Emphasising the importance of participation, the chief minister said, “Participate karne mein hi apne aap mein sabse bhari chiz hai.”
He also appreciated all 1,376 participants who took part in the third edition and said Battle of Minds would continue in the coming years, having already been declared an annual event. Abu Tayeng, secretary of the Directorate of Youth Affairs, said the competition had evolved significantly in a short period. “From a small initiative to becoming a state-wide event, BoM has come a long way in a very short time,” Tayeng said.
He said the department intends to further expand the competition so that it reaches every nook and corner of Arunachal Pradesh.
Tayeng also outlined the department’s larger vision for the competition, saying, “The day when government schools reach the finals and win the trophy is the day when we feel we have accomplished our goal.”
The third edition brought together young participants from across the state and culminated in the Grand Finale at DK Hall, Itanagar.
