Role of Seed Farm discussed at SDPDB

Bhandari Sub Divisional Planning & Development Board (SDPDB) at the monthly meeting held on April 8 at Bhandari, discussed the role and functioning of Nagaland State Seed Farm, Merapani.


According to DIPR, after the objectives of the Seed Farm was highlighted to the members by H. Lawrence, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS), the house resolved to request the government to take a proactive role to assist and resolve any issues faced by the department.


The farm established in 1969 under the Seed Production Programme, (SSP), Integrated Cereals Development Programme (ICDP), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Government of India, has been engaged in utilization of more than 1320 acres of farm land area and has been producing quality seeds and planting materials.


Since, then the State Seed Farm has been making effort to ensure livelihood and food security to the farming community. For that purpose, the house appealed to all concerned to not create or cause obstruction of departmental activities within the Seed Farm.


The meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner, and vice chairman SDPDB, Bhandari, Longasen Lotha, NCS, who also welcomed the new officers posted to Bhandari and reviewed the last meeting’s minutes.


Meanwhile, highlighting the progress of the Nagaland Foothill Road Construction, SDO, PWD R&B, Er. C.Tungoe informed that inspection was underway for shifting or relocation of power transmission lines in some areas to help expedite the ongoing construction work.
